Zella Mae Meeks Fisher passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020.
Zella, the daughter of the late Morgan D. McCrackin and Mamie Lee Kemp McCrackin was born on November 24, 1937, in Thomaston, Georgia. Her family later moved to Forsyth where she grew up, married and raised her family. She was married to Robert (Tommy) Meeks for 32 years until his death and later was married to Roy Fisher for 15 years until his death. She retired from the William Carter Company after 34 years and then worked for the Pride Craft Company for 5 years.
She is predeceased by her parents, her older siblings-two brothers Charles and Alton McCrackin, her sisters Lizzie, Myrtle Williams, Florence Williamson and Inise Moss.
Zella had a kind heart and was loved by all that knew her. She was affectionately known as Mama, Nanny and Mammie. She did enjoy many wonderful days, although at times during the last few years her health was not good. She looked forward to the phone calls and visits from family and friends and hearing about their lives. She loved her family, friends and home on earth but was looking forward to meeting her Heavenly Father and seeing her eternal home.
Survivors include her children Judy Meeks Edge (Ronnie) of Forsyth, Patricia Meeks Johnson (Gary) of Carrollton, Paula Meeks Winebarger (Troy) of Byron, five grandchildren, Melanie Yates (Jason) Bridget Morris (John Thomas),Jasmine Winebarger, Kelly Edge (KellyAyn) and Jamie Edge, seven great-grandchildren, a loving niece, Debra Bunn (Larry) and her very best friend, Hazel Payne (Lloyd).
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
