Wootson Thornton, 79, passed away August 13, 2020.
He was born November 9th, 1940 in Watkinsville, Georgia to the late Edward Thornton and Lovie O’Kelley and was preceded in death by his brother Frank Thornton.
Wootson is survived by his wife Sarah Ann, they met as teenagers and were married 58 years. He is also survived by his brother Joe Couch (Lori); daughters Kelly Martin and Terry Martin (Jimmy); grandchildren Daniel Tuten (Kellie), Casey Martin (Branden), Anna Martin (John), Lee Martin; and 5 great grandchildren: Chace, Conner, Caleb, Elaina, Kayleigh and baby Jake will be here any day.
Wootson began working at age 12 and at 18 got a job at HB Fuller Adhesive Company where he worked for over 40 years until he retired.
After retirement he enjoyed working in his shop restoring classic cars, attending car shows, hanging out with life-long friends and sleeping late, except on Sundays when he got up early to watch Reverend David Jeremiah.
Wootson had a huge heart and supported many charities that meant so much to him. He loved the Lord and was ready to start his new life in heaven.
The funeral will be officiated by Pastor Brian Moore at New Providence Baptist Church, 2560 US-41, Forsyth, GA 31029 at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 16, 2020. Visitation will be at the church at 1:30.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
