William Ben Speir “Popcorn”, 85, of Juliette passed away Saturday May 3, 2025. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM. Wednesday May 7, 2025, at Juliette Baptist Church 12670 Juliette Road Juliette Georgia 31046, with Reverend Mark Goolsby officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior at the church.
Popcorn was born December 15, 1939, in Juliette Georgia to the late Benjamin Franklin Speir and Lucy Cornwell Speir. Popcorn was a long-time member and choir director for Juliette Baptist Church. He worked for many years at the Bibb company where he earned the respect of his coworkers and made many friends. Popcorn was the oldest member of Juliette Baptist Church where he shared his love for God and wisdom.
In addition to his parents Popcorn is preceded in death by his son William Andrew “Andy” Speir; brothers Leon “Monk” Speir and Comer “Mutt” Speir; sisters Gertrude Bryant, Lois Wallace and Helen Stuart.
Popcorn is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Judy Speir of Juliette; grandson, Drew Speir of Juliette; great grandson, Will Speir; Sister, Nonie Hunnicut of Forsyth; sister-in-law, Evelyn Speir; brother-in-law, Wallace Stuart of Forsyth; brother-in-law, Hollis Griffin of Crescent City, Florida; and many friends.
