Tony Julius Bates, Sr.

Tony Julius Bates, Sr. passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021.  A private memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Rev. Chris Minton will officiate.  Due to COVID-19 there will not be a formal visitation. Masks and social distancing are requested at the funeral home.

Tony was born April 5, 1940 in Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon L. Bates and Annie R. Bates, six brothers and five sisters. He was also a member of Lizella Baptist Church of Lizella, GA.

He was survived by his beautiful wife of 63 years Betty Anne Bates, his children Tony J. Bates Jr. of Macon, GA and Candaler A High of Milledgeville, GA, his sister Martha Whitehead of Macon, GA and seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Homestead Hospice 500 Osigian Blvd Suite 300, Warner Robins, GA 31088.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
