Joseph Tommy Jackson passed away Monday, June 24, 2019. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019, at East Juliette Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. J. R. Jones will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Tommy was born July 4, 1937, in Porterdale, Georgia, to the late Joseph Samuel Jackson and Georgia Nancy Wilkes Jackson. His brother, Buck Jackson preceded him in death. He was a 1956 graduate of Jones County High School where he earned a basketball scholarship. Tommy was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Williams Jackson of Juliette; children, Donna Horne (Ronnie) of Gray, Sharon Williamson (Kelly Green) of Eatonton and Frankie Lord (Mark) of Juliette; sisters, Wylene Corbett of Jacksonville, Florida and Diane Johnson of Flovilla; grandchildren, Joseph Tanner (Missy) of Gray, Bob Horne of Gray, Jesseca Williamson of Haddock, Kimberly Williamson of Milledgeville, Jeremy Williamson of Forsyth, Robert Shupe of Juliette, Cassandra Shupe (Shawn Garbee) of Williston, ND; great grandchildren, Harleigh Marie Tanner of Gray, Camryn Elaine Allen and Autumn Kate Allen of Haddock and Joel Braxton Smith of Milledgeville.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
