Steven “Steve” Preston Rogers, Our beloved husband, daddy, papa, and brother, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026.
Steve was born on December 9th, 1950 to the late Rufus Franklin Rogers, Jr. and Gladys Stuart Rogers in Forsyth. He was preceded by his parents, sister Brenda, brother Mike, and his beloved grandson Mason.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Janice Harper Rogers, of Forsyth, and his children Michelle Rogers Edwards and Justin Rogers and his “favorite daughter-in-law” Brittany Dennis Rogers; along with four grandchildren, Taylor & Tyler Edwards, and Harper & Hayes Rogers; and grand-dogs Nala and Nash. He’s also survived by his sister, Marcia Rogers Ballard(Bert) of Covington, uncle Wallace Stuart of Forsyth and life-long friend Jean Walton of Forsyth.
He was a proud graduate of Mary High School, Class of 1969, served honorably in the Army National Guard, and dedicated 42 years of faithful service to Georgia Power.
Steve was just a simple man with a deep appreciation for life's quiet joys. He was his family’s rock, representing strength, determination, and unconditional love for the ones he cared for the most. Steve found happiness in fishing with friends, his children, and especially his precious grandchildren. He took great pride in attending their sporting events and cheering them on from the sidelines. He enjoyed watching old Western movies and television shows, antique cars, car shows, and cherished trips to the mountains. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for family, and the many memories he created with those closest to him.
His legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him. As papa would say “see ya soon, hooty hoo!”
