Stephen Wesley Terry

Stephen Wesley Terry passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Forsyth City Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.

Stephen Wesley Terry was born in Columbus, Georgia on June 30, 1950 to Derward Westley Terry and Margaret Ann Richards Terry. He departed this life on June 23, 2019.   He was the husband of Pamela Mays Terry and the father of Valyne Kathryne Terry. Steve was a graduate of Columbus State University and served as a medic in the United States Army Reserve. He was an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, and began his career as a District Executive Director for the Boy Scouts of America. He was later in sales for the Coca-Cola Company and then Kinnett Dairies in Columbus. During his Columbus years he was active in Edgewood Baptist Church in the AWANA program. In recent years in Forsyth, he was semi-retired as a part-time night auditor for Days Inn and was a member of First Assembly of God, Griffin, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Shawn Terry. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Terry Corbett (Pete), Sandy Springs, Georgia; a brother, Clifford Richards Terry (Ginger), Waynesville, North Carolina; niece Christy Terry and nephews Will Bruer (Anya), Patrick Terry and Jonathan Terry; great-nephew Andrew Terry and great-niece Maggie Bruer. Steve had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cheering people up and making them feel at home. He was well known for his baking and grilling skills and enjoyed using them to delight friends and family. He was a kind and caring man who will be greatly missed.
