Sonja Jane Mitchell

Sonja Mitchell, 76, a lifelong resident of central Georgia, passed away November 21, 2024, in Roberta, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at the Old Schoolhouse in Culloden, Georgia (Church Street) 2:00PM, December 2, 2024. 

Sonja was born May 18, 1948, in Cochran, Georgia to the late Monroe Alligood and late Eulala Mullis Alligood. As a retiree she enjoyed spending her free time with family and friends along with gardening and would spend hours tending to her plants. She also loved shopping for unique ornaments and trinkets, most of them slightly damaged. She had a knack for seeing the beauty in the broken.

Sonja is survived by her sons: Luke Mitchell (Frances) of Ocala, Florida, and Laney Mitchell of Culloden; brother, Joe Alligood of Perry; grandchildren: Heather Lockman, Cameron Lockman, Hayley Holcomb, and Hunter Holcomb along with numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Sonja is preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Fountain and daughters Kimberly Lockman and Tracey Holcomb.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel 86 West Main Street Forsyth, Georgia has charge of the arrangements.
