Ross Darden Smith Sr.

Ross Darden Smith, Sr. of Forsyth, Georgia passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 at his home. Ross was born on December 27, 1955 in Albany, Georgia to parents Boyce "Sam" Smith and Margaret Smith. Ross attended Valdosta State University and graduated from Albany State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He enjoyed a successful career in beverage distribution, starting his journey with Miller Brewing Company and eventually retiring to begin a new path with J&L Ventures, LLC. Known for his professionalism, expertise, and calm presence, he earned the respect of his colleagues and built lasting friendships throughout his career.

In addition to his career, Ross was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, both on land and water. He loved maintaining and caring for his "farm" in Forsyth, Georgia where he moved in 2015 from Marietta, Georgia. Ross was a lover of all animals, especially his dogs. He worked and played hard.

Ross is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Smith, and their two children: Samantha Miller (Casey) and Ross Smith, Jr. (Dyan). He was a proud grandfather to Ross III, Dean, and Aulora Smith and Lydia and William Miller. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Ray Smith. Ross will be remembered as a wonderful and dedicated friend, loving husband, and devoted father and grandfather.

A celebration of life luncheon will be held at Monroe County Conference Center in Forsyth, Georgia on September 28, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ross' honor to the American Humane Society or American Cancer Society.
