Robert Crawford Grubbs, Sr., was born at home surrounded by family, and he passed away peacefully the same way, at home with his family.
Bobby passed away Saturday morning at his residence in Senoia, Georgia, knowing that he had fought the good fight and won the race.
He was born in Bolingbroke, Georgia on July 23, 1933, to Johnny Durham (JD) Grubbs and Ethel McKinley Grubbs. He graduated from Mary Persons in 1950.
Bobby worked for 47 years for the Central of Georgia Railway, Southern Railway, and Norfolk Southern Railway as a railway dispatcher. He retired on December 30, 1997, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
He was proud of his service in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and was also the Captain of the Bolingbroke Volunteer Fire Department from 1982 to 1986.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 62 years, Reba Joanne Champion Grubbs of Senoia, Georgia, his daughter Carol (Scott) Cook from McDonough, Georgia and his son Robert Crawford Grubbs, Jr. (Natalie) from Brooks, Georgia.
He was the best grandfather ever to Robert C. Grubbs, III (Kate) from Atlanta, Joshua Ray Grubbs (Elizabeth) from Atlanta, Ryan Molock (Katie) of Dallas and Brielle Elizabeth Grubbs from Jacksonville, Florida.
He was the great-grandfather to Jaxon and Taylor Molock of Dallas, Georgia.
He is also survived by two brothers, James K. Grubbs (Sheila) of Memphis and William D. Grubbs (Betty) of Savannah.
He is missed by his cat, Jethro, who is still wandering around looking for him.
There will be a graveside service on Friday morning at Monroe Memorial Gardens at 11:30 a.m. Please, no flowers; memorial contributions can be made to Harp's Crossing Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia or McDonough First Methodist in McDonough, Georgia.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
