Rita Gates

Rita Gates, 89, of Forsyth, passed away Monday April 20, 2026. Funeral services will be held, 11:00AM Friday, April 24, 2026, at Maynard Baptist Church, 1195 Juliette Road, burial will follow at the Forsyth City Cemetery, Newton Memorial Drive. The family will greet friends 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday April 23, 2026, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street, Forsyth, Georgia.

Rita was a member of Maynard Baptist Church where she was very active, teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church and ministering where needed. She loved to pass the time with word searches and putting together puzzles.

In addition to her parents Rita is preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby Evans and Lavander Gates; son Keith Evans and cousin Tommy Moon.

Rita leaves behind to mourn her loss, her son Ronnie Evans, of Forsyth; grandchildren, Jarrod Evans (Brandi), Brandon Evans (Danika), Ansley Ivey (Michael), Chelsea Evans, Allison Evans, Kayley Evans, Austin Evans; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; cousins, Sandra Moore ( Junior), Elia Pittman; and many friends.
