George Richard “Rick” English passed away Friday, March 20, 2020.  A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be private.

Rick, the son of the late Richard Augustus English, Jr. and Ruth Viola Goggans English was born January 13, 1947, in Forsyth, Georgia.  He was a 1965 graduate of Mary Persons High School, a graduate of Middle Georgia College and a graduate of Georgia Southern College receiving several degrees, and was a veteran of The Georgia Army National Guard.  Rick was a high school educator for over thirty years and owner and operator of English Signs and Awards since 1974. He was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association, was a former member of Young Republicans during his college years, a member of the Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce and was named Small Business Owner of the Year in 1997.

Rick is survived by his wife of fifty years, Melissa Foster English of Forsyth; children, Amanda Kay English of Forsyth and Rebecca Rae English of Juliette; eight grandchildren,   Nick English, Gavin Cosby, Luke Leftwich, Kobe Leftwich, Kendall Jones, Zoey Jones, Hannah Jones and Ian English; numerous cousins; and his beloved pets Buddy & Taco Bell.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to donor’s favorite charity.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
