September 13, 1937 — May 25, 2023

Barnesville

Rev. Larry Joe DeBari, 86, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home May 25, 2023.  He was born in Gadsden, Alabama on September 13, 1937. He married the LOVE OF HIS LIFE, Carolyn, on December 17, 1955 (67 yrs.)

Mr. DeBari was self-employed as a plumber and electrician, and also worked for the city of Barnesville and the City of Macon Water Works.  He was a devout Christian and later in life dedicated himself to the Lord’s work. He and Ms. Gladys Goodwyn of Forsyth, Georgia reopened the Shiloh Baptist Church on the Monroe-Lamar County line sometime in 1976 or 77.  He served as pastor at the little country church from 1986 until 1997, which he loved. The little church is still thriving today. His interests included classic cars, antiques, heirloom tomatoes, and he collected and restored antique radios.

Mr. Debari was preceded in death by his beloved mother and daughter, Mildred Wallace Vaughn of Forsyth, Georgia and Vicki Denise Jackson of Barnesville, Georgia respectively.  He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Butler DeBari of Barnesville, Georgia; brother, Gerald Dean DeBari (Reba) of Pensacola, Florida; son, Gerald DeBari (Carren) of Barnesville, Georgia; daughter, Susan Proctor (Joey) of Forsyth, Georgia; grandchildren: Tiffany DeBari (Chris Sears) of Barnesville, Georgia, Amanda Benton (Eric) of Forsyth, Georgia, and Corry DeBari of Barnesville, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Emily Morgan Saint and Alice Sativa Nadeau of Forsyth, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Debari never met a stranger. He showed his love through actions and lived what he preached. He will be sorely missed.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens in Forsyth, Georgia.
