Ray Allen Chapman
April 12, 1933 - June 7, 2025
Ray Allen Chapman passed away at his home at the age of 92 in Lilburn, Ga. on June 7th, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Blanche; daughter Elizabeth Bailey (Scott), son Edward Chapman (Cici), grandsons Jeremy Chapman (Cassie), Zack Chapman, Christopher Bailey, and Ryan Chapman. Nephews Mike Chapman, Barry Chapman, Bill Chapman, and Jack Chapman. Nieces Debra Fagan and Joellen Chapman. Deceased members of his family include his parents James E and Clara Iona Chapman; brothers Jim, Paul, and Clyde Chapman. Nephews Don Chapman, Bryan Chapman, and Robert Chapman.
Ray was born in Mountain City, Ga., and attended Anderson High School in Anderson, SC. He later attended Emory University in Atlanta receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He joined the ATO fraternity while at Emory and worked part time at the Atlanta Journal where he met his wife, Blanche. He was drafted into the Army in 1954 at Ft. Jackson in Columbia, SC and went through basic training at Ft. Gordon, Augusta, Ga.
He worked for Liberty Mutual as an Executive Salesman for 32 years. His favorite past time hobby was golf, which he loved dearly. He was a member at East Lake Golf Course and Summit Chase Golf Course. Golf gave him the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with all his friends.
