Peggy Heath Smiddie

Peggy Smiddie, born May 26, 1927 Passed away Sunday evening, October 3, 2021 at her home with her family from a recent illness.

Peggy was a member of United Community Church in Macon, Ga. and always looked forward to church services on Sunday mornings.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Smiddie, Jr., her parents, Hubert Heath and Katrina Neal, sisters, Betty Ann Heath, Rose Marie Heath, brother, Gene Heath.

Peggy is survived by her six children, Deborah Elkins, Laura K Smiddie Jones (Mic), Mickey (Steve) Robertson, Peggy (Don) Edwards, Sam Smiddie, and Thomas “Chip” Smiddie. Brothers, HW (Linda) Heath and Billy Gibson. Peggy is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

Peggy had a love of being around people and work. She was employed as the credit manager at Lerner Shop on Cherry Street for many years; she also worked at Peggy Hale, Macon Iron and Roses. Even at 94 she wished daily to go back to work. Peggy was an avid Braves fan, she loved sitting in the sun, her family and dog, Buster. Peggy was full of life and spunk and never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed and loved by all that knew her.

Peggy’s Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at United Community Church, 2411 Heath Rd, Macon. Ga.  Visitation with family will be at 11am at United Community Church and the service will commence at 12 noon.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
