Patsy Miller Shipman

Patsy Miller Shipman passed away Monday, June 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Forsyth United Methodist Church, with burial in Monroe Memorial Gardens. Rev. Marty Dillon and Rev. Raymond Steinkamp will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.  Patsy, the daughter of the late James Horace Jenkins and Lillian Mackey Jenkins was born November 3, 1941, in Forsyth, Georgia. Her husband, Hank Miller and her sister Saundra J. Lien preceded her in death.  Patsy was a graduate of Mary Persons High School and a graduate of Tift College. She was the Tax Commissioner for Monroe County from 1995 to 2009; she served as Monroe County Commissioner from 2011 to 2014. Patsy was a lifelong member of Dames Ferry Baptist Church.  Survivors include her husband, Ron Shipman; children, Nell (Roger) Onstott and Ronnie (Holli) Shipman; sister, Dianne Outlaw Campbell; grandchildren, Caitlyn Onstott, Katelyn Shipman and Tripp Shipman all of Forsyth.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Dames Ferry Baptist Church, Post Office Box 1143, Forsyth, GA 31029 or to donor’s favorite charity.Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
