Patrick Lee Carroll took his final rest on September 7th after living a full and charmed life as an outlaw who was obviously born in the wrong century.
A Lineman by trade, Patrick loved working with electricity. He traveled all over the country building and maintaining every type of electrical infrastructure, while occasionally demonstrating his invincibility with random acts of pole jumping and other elevated shenanigans. He was a storm chaser in his younger days, helping with restoration efforts after hurricane Katrina and other major storms. Patrick always went where he was needed and took great pride in his ability to both lead and help people.
Patrick was reunited with the love of his life in March of 2022. After their first lunch date he and Sonya knew they never wanted to be apart again. With the help of a dear friend, they eloped 3 months and 3 days later in the middle of a terrible thunderstorm in true Irish and Lineman tradition. Patrick and Sonya were never apart for long... Their hearts could not abide that torture. Most of the time they could be found riding the back roads looking for adventure or spending time with their children at home.
Patrick was a fierce protector of those he loved and was affectionately known as Uncle Pat by the special nieces and nephews he considered his own children. Patrick felt the same way about his rowdy and mild-mannered friends, never hesitating to get them INTO or OUT OF trouble as he saw fit. If you needed him, he would find a way to be there for you.
Patrick was preceded in death by his father Marty Harris, and his chosen brother Eric Stevenson. He is survived by his wife Sonya Marie Hunt Carroll, daughters Hannah Abigail Carroll and Zelda Corrin Barbee, son Samson Linus Barbee, Mother Elecia Helms Harris, sister Alexandra (Tara) Harris, mother-in-law Becky Hunt, brother-in-law Donny (Ansley) Hunt Jr, sisters-in-law Sarajane (Nick) Bankston and Cassy (Tom) Allmond, and many other loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of Patrick's life is being planned for Sunday October 26th at High Falls State Park. We'll barbeque and toast the life of a man who is impossible to forget.
In lieu of flowers, Sonya asks that donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation for Veterans and First Responders. "There is no greater love than this: that a person will lay down their life for their friends." Thank you for loving our family at this difficult time.
