Nonie Eleanor Speir Hunnicutt (better known as Precious and Mawmaw to many) of Forsyth passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, at New Beginning Pentecostal Church, 1883 Juliette Rd, Forsyth, GA 31029, a private burial will follow at the East Juliette Baptist Church cemetery. Rev. Mark Goolsby will officiate. The family will greet friends at 2:00p.m., one hour prior to the service, at New Beginning Pentecostal Church.
Nonie, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Speir and Lucy Cornwell Speir, was born July 3, 1932, in Butts County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years SFC Thomas Franklin “Tommy” Hunnicutt (Ret) GA Army National Guard; siblings Comer “Mutt” Speir, Gertrude “Sister” Bryant, Lois “Bebe” Wallace, Helen Stuart, Leon “Monk” Speir, William Ben “Popcorn” Speir; children Benji and Barry Hunnicutt, Pattie Goolsby, and Walter B. Williams III; daughter-in-law Wendy Green Hunnicutt.
She worked at Carter’s Sewing Company then became a homemaker to take care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, singing, cleaning, gardening, weekly beauty shop visits to socialize with her friends, and having a good time sharing lots of laughs with her family. She was a longtime member of East Juliette Baptist Church where she could be found welcoming everyone and serving in the kitchen during luncheons or Vacation Bible School. Survivors include children, Randy Hunnicutt of Forsyth, Reggie (Valerie) Hunnicutt of Forsyth, Greg (Shandora) Hunnicutt of Bolingbroke, Tonia (Roy) Fellows of Morgan, and Jeff (Dana) Hunnicutt of Jackson, Susan (James) Davis of Forsyth; son-in-law, Bob Goolsby of Juliette; daughter-in-law, Kara Hunnicutt of Forsyth; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Mary Pritchett, Gail Cochran, and Judy Speir, all of Juliette, Betty Woods of Richmond, Virginia, Evelyn Speir of Bolingbroke; and brother-in-law, Wallace Stuart of Forsyth. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation and thanks to Enhabit Home Health & Hospice of Macon.
