Ann Bennett, 87, of Forsyth, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street, Forsyth. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel, with burial to follow in a private family ceremony.
Marjorie Ann (Elliott) Bennett was born on October 12, 1938, to Marjorie Irene (Syring) and Boykin Smith Elliott II in Barnesville, Georgia. She attended high school in Yatesville, then went on to Tift College in Forsyth, and later earned her master’s degree from Mercer University.
On September 2, 1956, Ann married her lifelong companion, Willard Killis Bennett of Culloden. During their 66 years of marriage, they shared a full and loving life together and were blessed with three daughters, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Ann was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook, and she loved to read whenever she had the chance. In 1980, Ann and Killis moved from Culloden to Forsyth—a move Ann often reminded Killis she hadn’t wanted to make—but Forsyth became their home for the rest of their lives. Ann was a teacher who taught high school in Forsyth and surrounding counties before finishing her career at Burruss Prison.
Ann is survived by her siblings, Faye Ruffin, Kay Jacks, and Kin Elliott; her daughters, Betsy Ham (Doug), Lisa Bennett, and Karen Collins (Bruce); grandchildren, Sarah Brock (Wes), Jeremy Floyd, DJ Ham (Kirstie), and Kelsey Ham; and great-grandchildren, Madison Brock, Grace Brock, Brooklyn Ham, Leah Phillips, Allie Phillips, Skylar Phillips, and Colton Ham.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Brightmoor Hospice, especially the staff at the Macon IPU and those who cared for Ann at home. They became part of the family over the past four years, first caring for her husband, Killis, and then for her. The love and compassion shown to Ann truly reflected their motto: “Adding life to days when days can no longer be added to life.”
