Michelle was born in Macon, Georgia, on August 20, 1977. She graduated from Mary Persons High School in 1995 and later earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Macon State College in 2003. Following her education, she dedicated her life to caring for others through a meaningful career in nursing.
Michelle worked at Macon Northside Hospital; North Macon Family Physicians; Macon State College; Coliseum Hospital; and The Children’s Hospital of Central Georgia, where she found special fulfillment caring for people. She later returned to Coliseum Hospital, serving as a Clinical Nursing Coordinator and subsequently as a Sepsis Coordinator. She continued her professional career with Coventry Workers’ Compensation Services before making the decision in 2018 to become a stay‑at‑home mom.
No matter where she was employed or what stage of life she was in, Michelle’s greatest calling was caring for others. Even after stepping away from formal work, she was always looking for ways to help, offering her time, support, and compassion wherever she saw a need.
Michelle deeply enjoyed spending time on and around the Tuckasegee River, loving on her children, husband, and her dogs, and simply being present with those she cared about. She was incredibly proud of her children, Lanier and Lance, and spoke often of how proud she was of the people they were becoming. She had a gentle reminder for everyone she loved: that life was taken far too seriously and that people should remember to have more fun.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bridget and Art Ellis.
Michelle is survived by her husband, Dr. Allen G. Garrison; her children, Lance Rhodes and Lanier Justice (Will Martin); her parents, Mac and Beth Brown of Culloden; siblings Trey Brown (Jodi), Lisa Goodwin (Dr. Jeremy), Josh Roberts (Natalie), Matt Roberts (Casey), and Zach Roberts; as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends who will forever cherish her kindness, humor, and generous heart.
Arrangements are being handled by Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Please visit www.monroecountymemorialchapel.com to express condolences to the family.
