Janet Greene Maddox, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, walked through the gates of Glory (no more pain) on Sunday, June 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Macon, Georgia, on January 29, 1956, Janet was the daughter of the late F. Emory Greene and Phyllis (Adema) Greene of Macon, Georgia. She lived a life full of resilience and strength.
She was the loving wife of Ricky Maddox of Forsyth, Georgia. Together, they shared a beautiful life and would have celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on June 26th.
Janet was a proud and loving mother to her daughters: Amanda Potts of Round Pond, Maine, Amanda (Darren) Brown of Jackson, Georgia, Jenny (Bryan) Crane of Blue Ridge, Texas, and Beth (Kent) Carlyle of New Whiteland, Indiana. Her family was her greatest joy.
She was also the cherished “Meme” of nine grandchildren and the proud “Old Meme” of six great-grandchildren. Janet’s love and tenacious spirit will live on through each of them.
Janet loved life and lived it fully — with joy, laughter, and a warm heart that touched everyone she met. Whether spending time with family, celebrating life’s special moments, or simply enjoying the everyday, she embraced each moment to the fullest.
She had a special place in her heart for her beloved Yorkie, Loretta, who was her constant companion. She also treasured the deep friendship she shared with her dear friend, Sherry Brown, whose love and support over the years meant so much to her.
Janet will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kindness to all who knew her, and her zest for life. She was a strong, resilient lady fighting chronic pain for the last 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, Ricky Maddox; her 4 daughters and their families, and her sister, Debbie (Frank) Holland of Forsyth, GA.
A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at Dames Ferry Baptist Church located at 208 Old Dames Ferry Rd. Juliette, Georgia, on Wednesday, June 11th at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dames Ferry Baptist Church c/o Lindsey Spivey 173 Hadden Hall Dr Macon, GA 31210 in her memory.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Janet is now at peace. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well lived — one that will continue to inspire all who knew her for generations to come.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street Forsyth, has charge of the arrangements.
