On 4/16/26, Jane Christine (Wilkinson) Haygood, went home to meet her Saviour, Jesus Christ. Bravely, she chose to fight cancer peacefully and in her own home.
Jane was born to George Eugene (Pop) Wilkinson and Rachael Viola (Cardin) Wilkinson on Nov. 29, 1947, in Lafayette, Walker County, Georgia. They preceded her in death. She was raised by Julian Scott, in Bibb County. She graduated from Miller High School for Girls in Macon, GA.
She was married to Homer L. Haygood, Jr. (aka Lannie) for 60+ years. Even though Jane worked outside the home at the Monroe County Board of Ed, Southern Bell and Georgia Power for 25 years her most esteemed position was a homemaker. Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Jane was the glue with the infectious hugs and smiles that grounded us as a family. A longtime resident of Forsyth, Ga, Jane supported Mary Persons High School by attending football games with her children and again many soccer games with her grandchildren. She was the MP Soccer Team’s GMOM and served them proudly. She loved puzzling during family get-togethers, which were quite often. Jane was also an avid quilter. Many quilts will be shared with the family so she will always be remembered and knows that her family will be wrapped by her love.
She is survived by her husband Lannie Haygood, her son Joseph L. (Jay) Haygood (Kathie), and her daughter Patricia Jane King (Greg). Also, grandchildren, Benjamin J. (Ben) Haygood, M. Erik (Jessica) Haygood, Jacob L. Haygood, Leah H. Robins (DavidAllen) and Durham P. King. She has four Great-Grandchildren: Barrett L. & Blaire V. Haygood and Amelia Jane & John Rhett Robins.
The family will greet visitors at the Forsyth Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Sunday 4/19/26 with the funeral to follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will be a private affair.
