Brooks Livingston

July 31, 1944 — April 4, 2023

 Brooks Livingston of Forsyth, Georgia passed away April 4, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.  Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Friday April 7,2023 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Officiating: Reverend Taylor McKneely, Dan Singletary and Ned Watson. Honorary Pallbearers: Sheriff Butch Reese, Tommy Austin, Randy Candler, Lamar Russell and Vernon Middleton. Pallbearers: Tria Avera, Joe Tingle, David Smarr, Creed Hayman, Charles Smarr, Mike Stanford, Derek Watson and Jason Bates.

Brooks was born July 31, 1944 in Macon, Georgia to the late Donald Frazier and Mary Hyman Livingston. He attended Clisby Elementary School, Lanier Jr. and Lanier Sr. High School in Macon, Georgia Southern College and GA Police Academy. While at Georgia Southern he enjoyed all aspects of college life including playing left field for the Eagles baseball team. He retired from McKesson Liquor Company after fifteen years of service. Upon his retirement from McKesson Liquor Company he entered into law enforcement beginning his employment with Jones County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Butch Reese, also previously employed with Bibb County Civil Court for twelve years. He worked part-time as a funeral assistant beginning in 1988 when Monroe County Memorial Chapel was established.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary M. Livingston.

Brooks is survived by his loving wife of twenty-one years, Greta Livingston, daughter, Lee Ann Shoemaker (Roy Fountain), son, Jon Dorminey (Amy), and his grandchildren, Abby, Mia, Eva and Winnie.

Brooks was a consummate “Southern Gentlemen”. He enjoyed traveling, fishing with his friend Randy Candler and his wife, Greta.  He enjoyed his bonus children and granddaughters, One of his favorite things was listening to music from the 60’s. Brooks enjoyed living on Tobesofkee Creek and enjoyed the times of just rocking in the sunroom overlooking the creek.  He was a kind man with a gentle spirit.
