James Alfred "Jay" Rivers Jr., 81, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Forsyth, with the Reverend Hambric Brooks officiating. Burial will follow the service at Monroe Memorial Gardens.
Jay was born on August 22, 1944, in Macon, Georgia, to the late James Alfred Rivers Sr. and Martha Leonard Rivers. He was a 1962 graduate of Lanier High School and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. Jay earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Forsyth.
Throughout his career, Jay was an owner and operator of J and H Construction, where he built homes across Middle Georgia. Most recently, he was the owner of Macon Mulch.
Jay loved Jesus and cherished time spent talking, eating, and working on cars. He will be remembered for his faith, his work ethic, and his love for people.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his son, Randy Rivers. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gloria Rivers of Forsyth; sons, Tripp Rivers (Tracey) of Monroe County, and Todd Rivers (Jennifer) of Forsyth; grandchildren: Noah Rivers, Luke Rivers, Zoe Rivers, and Molly Rivers; brother, Howard Rivers; sister-in-law, Gayle Webb (Larry) of Forsyth; sisters, Louann Bush and Laura Galyean (Dennis), both of Macon, Georgia; and aunt, Marie Crenshaw of Macon.
