Mr. Hugh Johnston “Jack” Boyer, 80, of Macon, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024.  Celebration of Life services will be held at the Grande Ballroom at Carlyle Place, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 2:00PM. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service.  

Jack was born in Amarillo, Texas and moved to Elizabeth City, North Carolina at the age of six.  He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering.  Jack was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity while at the University, and as a true fan of the “Wolfpack”, he attended every home football game at North Carolina State from 1968 to 2018. Following college, Jack worked in textiles with J.P Stephens. He was then drafted in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.  Jack then worked for Fieldcrest Cannon until opening his own awning company in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was an avid fresh and saltwater fisherman. He was a member of West Ford Methodist Church in Concord, North Carolina.  Jack and Ruth moved to Macon in 2023 to live at Carlyle Place.   

Jack is the son of the late Hugh and Evelyn Boyer and is also preceded in death by his son, Greg Boyer; and brother, William Boyer.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Brown Boyer; son, Ken Boyer (Amy) of Forsyth; grandchildren, Kaitlin Boyer, Sarah Boyer, and Daniel Boyer; great-grandchild, Ezra Steele; nieces and nephews, Keeley Styron (David), Beau Boyer (Leslie), and Brooks Boyer (Kim).  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V. Foundation at www.v.org, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate, or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
