Harold Clark "Unk" Kendrick, Jr., 92, of Culloden, GA, passed away on June 1, 2025. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service to honor an extraordinary man, husband, father, uncle, friend, and Bulldog this Saturday, June 7, in Forsyth Methodist Church at noon with visitation and lunch following in the Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Kendrick, known to all as “Unk,” was born on October 13, 1932, in Washington D.C. to Harold “Unkie” Clark Kendrick, Sr. and Susan Gist Hoskins Kendrick as the oldest of two children. His little sister was Flo Anne. Growing up, he lived in California, Michigan, Texas, Florida, & Georgia as his father served in the military. Unk graduated from Hartwell High School then experienced a brief stint as a freshman at NC State before joining the Marine Corp where he served for three years. He met the love of his life, Bibbie, married and attended the University of Georgia where he received a degree in Consultant Forestry. Kendrick later added Real Estate General Certified Appraiser and Georgia Land Surveying Engineer to his resume. He was licensed in Alabama, South Carolina, & Georgia. To his list of professional accomplishments, he could add many memberships to forestry organizations, awards, & recognitions. For years, he has been the oldest certified forester in Georgia. Among his clients were foreigners of royalty with titles of Count and Barron who owned southeastern land in the United States.
Full of life and enthusiasm, Kendrick was known for his sense of adventure, humor, pranks, stories and tall tales. Among his enjoyments were hunting, fishing, dancing, gatherings with his family & friends, dining out, traveling, playing cards, attending games between the hedges and following his beloved Bulldogs. Community was an integral part of his life where he served as a Jaycee, and taught Sunday School for decades, as well as minister as a lay speaker. Most everyday was FULL of happiness for a man “larger than life.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; devoted wife Ella Lee Elizabeth “Bibbie” Spires; sons-in-law John Frank Hodges & Hugh “Buddy” Andrews; brother-in-law John Steven Crosby; & sister Florence Annette “Flo Anne” Kendrick Crosby. Unk & Bibbie had six children. All currently live in Georgia: Susan E. Kendrick, Jennifer K. Hodges, Wade S. Kendrick (Fran), Georgia A. Boyd (Ed), Jeff C. Kendrick (Cristi), & John H. Kendrick (Eileen). Unk’s grandchildren: Riana (Josh), Brittany (Michael), Ethan (Kaitlyn), April (Dustin), Miles, Clint (Danielle), Clark (Nikki), Chiara (Kyle), Laura (Dakota), Austin, Kendrick, & Andrew. Great-grandchildren followed: Addison, Cruz, Scarlett, Marleigh, Ethan, Abbi, Ben, Vayda, Layla, Amelia, Cody, Carter, Charlie, Lillian, Ivy, & Jason.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Forsyth Methodist Church (478-994-5706) or UGA Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources (706-542-2686).
