Forsyth

Glen C. “Bud” Cunningham, Jr, born May 15, 1951, passed peacefully on June 9, 2026, after a battle with cancer.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of many years, Latralle Wilson Cunningham; son, David (Christy) Cunningham of Thomasville, NC; Eric (Valerie) McCullough of Jackson, GA; and daughter-in-law Linda Cunningham of Barnesville, GA; sister Barbara Jane (Steve) Miller of Bruceton Mills, WV; sister Linda Lou (Mike) Firebaugh of Russell, KY; and brother in-law Todd (Brandy) Wilson of Juliette, GA. He was a beloved Poppie to his grandchildren: Glen C Cunningham IV of Barnesville, GA, Talia (Dylan) Lang of Asheboro, NC; Kaitlyn (Josh) Hartman of Jackson, GA; Nicholas (Grace) Cunningham of Newport, NC; Zachary Cunningham of Goldsboro, NC; Riley McCullough of Jackson, GA; and to his “adopted” grandchildren: Brianna (Levi) Zellner of Juliette, GA; Hailey Wilson of Juliette, GA; Cierra (Brandon) Gordon of Juliette, GA; and to his great grandchildren: Canaan Cunningham, Ronan Lang, Cameron Gordon, Sadie Zellner, and Ruth Cunningham; and by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, GC Cunningham III of Barnesville, GA; his parents, Glen Clark Cunningham, Sr and Sybil Gay Allen Cunningham; and his brother, James Paul Cunningham.

Bud spent most of his childhood in WV in Doddridge County on the family farm and in Kingwood, WV. He graduated from Cambridge High School in Cambridge, OH in 1969. He went on to graduate from Lumber Grading School in Memphis, TN then worked at Hinchcliff Lumber Co in Hendricks, WV before life brought him to Forsyth, GA where he would meet the love of his life. He retired from Southern Forest Industries in Smarr, GA after many years as a supervisor. Bud treasured his time at Maynard Baptist Church where he spent time with the men's group, helped with youth trips, worked in the nursery, and sang for the Lord. In his spare time, he spent time with his beloved guard dog, Gabby, and repaired small engines that people brought to him when they did not work anymore. There was not an engine that he could not fix! He always tried to be a guide to his children and grandchildren, sharing his life wisdom while also having fun and leaving them with precious memories of laughter.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Maynard Baptist Church Nursery thru Youth Fund. A memorial service will be held at Maynard Baptist Church. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 4:00 pm. Casual dress is requested. (Bud said suits and ties were stuffy)
