Frank Eugene Pruitt, 83 of Jackson, GA, passed away peacefully August 28 2023 at Wellstar Spalding Medical Center in Griffin, Georgia surrounded by loving family and friends following a brief hospitalization.
It’s hard to know where to begin when telling his story. This can only be the briefest of summaries of a life well lived.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, September 5, 1939 ,the son of George Felton Pruitt Sr. and Mary Westbrook Pruitt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Lucille Hedden Roberts, Geneva Sparks, Gladys Clure, George Felton Pruitt Jr., Oralee Clure, Junior Pruitt, and Lucine Pruitt.
Frank was a man of many hats and many talents. He framed out and built several of the houses he lived in. He drove trucks, worked on HVAC equipment, invested in real estate, and was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He survived a childhood bout of polio, the first of many challenges he faced in his life. It left him with a limp, but also with a valuable perspective on life. As an adult he became active in Scouting alongside his sons, and continued his service to Scouting even after his own boys had aged out of the program.
Frank never met a stranger. A vibrant storyteller who always had something to contribute to the conversation. He had a tremendous sense of humor, and was quick with a joke, brightening a room even in the darkest of days. He was cautious with money, but generous with his time. Dad couldn’t fix everything, but he would certainly try.
Frank and Doris were together for 55 years, the great loves of each other’s lives. He was her rock, and she was his. Their shared love and Christian faith kept them strong in turbulent times.
He is survived by Doris (Cash), his wife of 55 years, three sons: Russell, Cenate (Wendy), and Joshua (Casie), six grandchildren (Alysha, Tanner, Alora, Kaitlyn, Hannah, and Felton), two great-grandchildren (Andi and Fern), nieces and nephews, cousins, and many many beloved friends.
He was a fighter to the end, and we will miss him until we see him again.
