Evelyn Jackson Harris

Evelyn Jackson Harris, 91, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Rogers Church, 11576 Hwy 74, Forsyth, Georgia, with the Reverends Eugene Barlow and Tim Nixon officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Daughter of the late George Garrett Jackson and Loris Chancellor Jackson, Evelyn was born in Forsyth on June 15, 1935. She dedicated more than 40 years to her career as a secretary and began her career with Ham, Mills, and Freeman, Attorneys at Law before continuing her work with Curtis Jenkins, Attorney at Law.

Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cheryl Godfrey Sapp; grandchildren: Jessica Sapp Sheffield, Jennifer Sapp, Matthew Sapp (Ginger), and Stacey Sapp Califf; eight great grandchildren; three stepchildren: Richard Outler (Minnie), Pandy Horton (Gary), and Ben Harris (Nikki); two nieces, Kathy Ivey (Mike) and Martha MacGillivary (Ken); two great nephews; and one great great niece.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Sanford "Buck" Godfrey; husband, L. Russell Harris; and sister, Jean Jackson McLeod (Richard).
