Elder Parker Henry Sye, 95, of Forsyth went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 2nd, 2024. He was born on October 15, 1928 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Sye in Birmingham, AL and grew up on the beaches of Jacksonville, FL.

He was called to duty with the United States Army at the age of 20, serving state side as well as in Europe and Vietnam. After 20 years of service, he retired with an honorable discharge as a Chief Warrant Officer W-3.

Elder Sye was ordained to the ministry of the gospel of Christ on July 28, 1972, and served as pastor of the following Primitive Baptist Churches: Delray Beach (FL), Macon, and Northside in Atlanta. After retiring from a full time pastorate in 1991, he continued to preach regularly at nearby sister churches, including Hardwick Church, Milledgeville; New Hope Church, Yatesville; and Enon Church, Gay, GA. More recently he has been a faithful and much loved member of Ramah Primitive Baptist Church, Barnesville, GA.  He served as a writer on the Bible Study Literature Committee for the Primitive Baptist Foundation. He also wrote for and was on the advisory council for the Trumpet of Truth and wrote for the Banner Herald, both denominational publications.

Among Parker’s hobbies was building and maintaining an electric train village, much to the delight of his grandchildren. In his later years, he enjoyed many hours building and decorating beautiful doll houses, much to the delight of his great-grandchildren and many others.

In addition to his parents, Elder Sye was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Florence Norma Towne Sye and his sister, Eleanor Hendricks.

Elder Sye’s memory will forever be treasured by his children: Tom Sye, Susan Benson (the late Don Benson), Edith Adams (Rufus), and Elizabeth Albor; grandchildren: Melissa Adams Selman (Chris), Carmen Adams Hynko (Ryan), Kenneth Benson, Kimberly Benson Haddock (Blake), Christopher Benson, Lauren Albor Greenwald (Charles), Lui Albor, Jr., and Bessie Sye; great-grandchildren: Liam Haddock, Benson Haddock, Mattie Haddock, Florence Haddock, Annaleigh Selman, Jase Hynko, Tucker Hynko, Remi Hynko; his brother, Elder Pat McCoy (Kathy); and several nieces and nephews.
