Dr. Jack Bowcock

Dr. John Overton (Jack) Bowcock, Jr. passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Visitation with friends will be Saturday, January 2, 2021, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., with services immediately following at Rock Springs Church, located at 219 Rock Springs Road, Milner, Georgia. Dr. Benny Tate will be officiating.

Jack was a graduate of Richmond Academy in Augusta, Georgia; he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1970.

During the Vietnam War, he was stationed at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas where he served as Captain in the dental clinic.

Dr. Bowcock was a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association and Central District Dental Association where he served as president. He was also a member of the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics. Known by many as “Dr. B,” considered his dental staff as family and took pride in serving his patients in Middle Georgia for nearly 50 years.

His community involvement included serving as president and board member of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, director of the Forsyth-Monroe County Kiwanis Club, and director of the Forsyth Golf Club. He also was the chairman of the Doctor Search Committee. Jack was also key in hosting the United States Rowing Team in Forsyth during the 1996 Olympics.

He and his wife Ann Rose Bowcock, the love of his life, are members of the Rock Springs Church family.

Jack enjoyed life and all it had to offer. He loved God, his country and family. He was an avid golfer, proud Georgia Bulldog and outdoorsman.

Jack’s parents were John Overton Bowcock and Martha Gainer Bowcock of Augusta, Georgia. Jack is survived by his wife, Ann Rose Bowcock, three children and their families including: Clark Overton Bowcock (Jennifer), of Los Gatos, California; Blair Bowcock Hickman (Stan) of Forsyth, Georgia; Rosemary Lizabeth Corbett (Shawn) of Statesboro, Georgia. Their grandchildren include: Alexis Leigh Bowcock; Lyndsey Claire Bowcock; Stanley Jason Hickman, Jr.; Logan Parker Hickman; McKenney Anna Corbett; Michael Dexter Corbett; Grace Ann Corbett, Godson, Edward Cheves III and lifelong friends Johnny and Barbara Trulock.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rock Springs Church at 219 Rock Springs Road, Milner, Georgia 30257.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
