Dorothy Elizabeth Murner

Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Murner, 93, of Forsyth, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024.  Graveside funeral services will be at Monroe Memorial Gardens, Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00AM with the Pastor Tim Oliver officiating.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street, Forsyth.

Mrs. Murner worked as a bookkeeper for Murner Refrigeration for many years and worked at one time for the Monroe County Reporter.   As a Christian who lived out her faith, she was an auxiliary for the Monroe County Hospital and volunteered tirelessly as a Red Cross blood mobile volunteer. 

Mrs. Murner was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Jackson Murner and grandson, Christopher Murner.  She is survived by her children, Johnny Murner of Forsyth, Barry Murner (Teresa) of Juliette, Georgia Debbie Alverson (Ed) of Thomaston, Georgia, Melanie Sanderson (Bob) of Forsyth, Kevin Murner (Camille) of Milledgeville, Georgia, and Velda Shackleford (Al) of Pine Mountain, Georgia; seventeen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
