Donald Bismark Sanders

Capt. Donald Bismark Sanders (Ret) GA Army National Guard passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, Ga 31061. Rev. Grady Mimbs will officiate.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mr. Sanders, the son of the late Clyde Frank Sanders and Ethel Violet Owenby Sanders, was born August 29, 1946, in Columbus, Georgia. His son, Lance Ashley Sanders preceded him in death. He retired from Robins Air Force Base with forty years of service and also retired from the Georgia Army National Guard with twenty-five years of service. He was a former member of 1/121 48th Infantry Brigade serving during Desert Storm.  Mr. Sanders was a member and deacon of Maynard Baptist Church, he served as Chaplain of AL Burruss Prison, he taught RA’s at Maynard Baptist Church and was part of the nursing home ministries. Survivors include his wife, Mary Sanders of Forsyth; son, Chad (Angelia) Sanders of Macon; sisters, Sandra Sanders of Atlanta, Bawana Sanders of Warner Robins and Jane Hollingsworth of Griffin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Maynard Baptist Church Freedom Fund, Post Office Box 576, Forsyth, GA 31029.Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
