Dixie Gordon

Dixie Aline Gordon, 85, of Warner Robins, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, with the Reverend Julie Long officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Monroe Memorial Gardens, Ensign Road Forsyth, Georgia. 

Dixie was born on January 6, 1939, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late Frank McWhirter and Lara Taylor McWhirter. She worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. John Morgan Pediatric Dentist for 32 plus years and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Christ in Macon for 30 years. 

She dedicated countless hours to volunteering at Rosa Taylor Elementary School, touching the lives of many children and educators with her kind heart. She enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family, who were her greatest pride and joy. 

Dixie is survived by her daughter, Vicki Walker (Steve) of Warner Robins; son, Gene Gordon (Terri) of Daytona Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Taylor McGraw of Brooklyn, New York and Bradley Gordon of Charlottesville, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her grandchildren: Brian Gordon, Brandon Gordon, and Cole Gordon; two sisters, Essie Herndon and Thelma McWhirter; and six brothers: Walter, Franklin, Paul, James, William, and Henry McWhirter.
