Danita Joan Carlton

Danita Joan Carlton passed away peacefully in her parents’ home Sunday, January 17, 2021.  Danita, who was born with mental and physical challenges due to Down syndrome, retained the sweetness of childhood throughout her entire life.  She was completely dependent on the care of others, and in return graced them with unconditional love.

Danita was born to Leon and Genova (Meadows) Carlton in Thomasville, GA.  She spent most of her life in Grady County in the Pope Store Community.  In 2016, Danita moved with her parents to Forsyth, GA, where she was residing when she passed away.  She is preceded in death by her father and an infant brother, Joseph.  She is survived by her siblings and their spouses Debbie Walterhouse (Jim) of Big Spring, TX; Donnie Carlton (Shirley) of Bainbridge, GA; Sonia Wade (Joe Ward) of Valdosta, GA; Cathy Sanders (Jay) of Forsyth, GA; and several nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces as well. 

Monroe County Memorial Chapel of Forsyth and Allen and Allen Funeral Home of Thomasville are sharing in the care of her arrangements.  A private service will be held for the family Wednesday, January 20, and she will be interred at Pine Forest Baptist Church cemetery in Grady County.
