Daniel Hugh Smith, an all-around IT geek specializing in data and data integration, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Danny’s win/loss record with cancer was 1-1. He won the first round with bladder cancer earlier this year, but it came back with a vengeance and he lost round two. He was 48 years old, never married, and had no children. He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul.
Danny is survived by a loving family. He left behind two brothers, Doug and David, Doug’s family Debra and their two children Jessica and James, David’s family Lisa and their daughter Catherine. His aunt Cheryl Grant and her children Christi Dorton, Clay Grant, and Camille Walston and her children. Cousins on Danny’s mother’s side are DeeDee Shaw, Matt Davis, and Frank Davis. Danny loved all of his cousins and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Sue Marie Smith, Aunt June Davis, Uncle Russell Bowdoin, grandparents Hugh and Betty Smith, grandparents Frank and Sue Bowdoin, and Whitewash the wonder dog.
Danny was a kind, gentle soul that embodied Christ’s new commandment in John 13:34 to love one another as Christ loved us. Danny loved his nieces and nephew, technology, all things Dragon Con, and serving others. In response to Matthew 25:40, he opened his home, heart, and wallet to those in need.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to your favorite charity. In lieu of food and meals to the family, gifts can be made to Meals By Grace at mealsbygrace.org.
