Clara Ann Duncan, a cherished pillar of her community and a beacon of joy to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in Macon, Georgia. Born on December 3, 1935, in the quaint town of Screven, Georgia, Clara's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and the simple pleasures of music and family. Clara's early life in Screven set the stage for a lifetime of accomplishment and community involvement. A proud graduate of Screven High School in 1953, she was a vibrant member of the high school glee club, where she cultivated her lifelong love for music. Clara's talents were not confined to her voice alone; she possessed a remarkable ability to play the piano and guitar by ear, a skill that brought joy to many throughout her life.

In her adult years, Clara married the love of her life, William Thomas Duncan, and together they embarked on numerous entrepreneurial ventures across South Georgia and Atlanta. Their partnership in both business and life was a source of inspiration to those around them. Clara's dedication to her family was unwavering, and she was a loving mother to R. Dennis Duncan and Kay Duncan Bohan, a nurturing mother-in-law to Deborah Phillips Duncan and Damon, and a doting grandmother to Zachery Lee Duncan, Eric Thomas Duncan, and Kevin Duncan, along with their respective spouses, Malou, Becca, and Kaitlynne. Her legacy also includes five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will all miss her deeply.

Clara's love for music found its most profound expression in her commitment to her church, where she sang in the choir at Northside Baptist Church in Darien, Georgia. Her voice, a blend of strength and tenderness, uplifted many a congregation. Clara's passion for life extended to the golf course, where she was an avid golfer, often found with a club in hand and a smile on her face.

Clara's life was marked by the joy she found in simple pleasures and the love she shared with her family and friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, William Thomas Duncan; her dear son, William David Duncan; her treasured granddaughter, April Jean Duncan; and her siblings, Janet Lee, Margaret Propes, Lucy Harris, and Edgar Joyner. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories were cherished until her last days.

As we remember Clara, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Clara's spirit, her love for her family, her passion for music, and her entrepreneurial spirit have become indelible parts of all who knew her. Her legacy will continue to resonate in the lives she touched and the community she so dearly loved.
