Charles Gregory Blythe, age 70, died August 8, 2020, at home with family at his bedside after a long battle with a chronic illness.
Greg is survived by his wife, Peggy, his children: Tamra (Jay) Pace, Melanie (David) Greenough, Gregory Michael (Gina) Blythe, Marc (Kathy) Zellner, and Jason (Pamela) Zellner; sisters, Marilyn Blythe of Forsyth and Debi (Terry) Riffe of Lakeland, Fl; brother, Tim (Betsy) Keller of Perry, Florida. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Greg volunteered to serve with the USMC and earned a Purple Heart as a heavy machine gunner in Vietnam in 1968 becoming medically retired the following year.
Greg became an accomplished guitarist and retired in 2010 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Rock Springs Church.
Graveside services will be held at Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens at 10:00 am Friday, August 14, 2020. Pastor Cameron Shifflett and Elder William Bishop will officiate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic will not be a formal visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
