Billie "Charlene" Barrett

Billie “Charlene” Barrett, 82, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 2560 US-41, Forsyth, GA 31029.

Born on the farm in Griffin, Georgia, on October 13, 1943, Charlene was the daughter of the late Charles H. “Andy” Barrett and Willie Mae Wilbanks Barrett. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles H. “Charlie” Barrett and Joseph H. “Joe” Barrett.

Charlene will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her friends at Parkwood Developmental Center in Valdosta where she resided for over 53 years. She entered Parkwood as one of the first residents brought in by the doctor. She leaves behind cherished memories, to all her friends and family, especially to those who spent holidays and birthdays watching her open presents and eat really good food and deserts. These memories will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
