On February 1, 2026, after an adventurous and fun-filled life, Betty Cochran’s earthly journey unexpectedly came to an end. She was born on January 15, 1952, to Willard Reece Monk and Lucille Cole.
Betty was a 1970 graduate of Mary Persons High School, where she enjoyed many good times playing basketball alongside her teammates. Following graduation, she worked in a wide range of professions, including insurance adjusting and heavy equipment operation. At the time of her passing, she was employed as a preschool teacher at First Baptist Church of Forsyth, a role she deeply enjoyed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Michelle Gassett Dupre. Betty is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Cochran; granddaughters Ivy Parker (Chris), Anneliese Cratem (Reyad), Carson Brown (Ryan), and Kamryn Russell; great-granddaughter Henley Harvey; great-grandson MJ Cratem; and she was joyfully awaiting the arrival of great-grandson Ryman Cratem; brother Dennis Cole (Beverly); sister, Delores Cole Green (Frank); She is also survived by bonus grandchildren Cale and Caylee Parker.
A visitation will be held at Monroe County Memorial Chapel on Wednesday from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Monroe Memorial Gardens.”
