Margie Wynne Elkin

September 15, 1931 — January 25, 2017

Margie Wynne Elkin closed her eyes for her last time on January 25, 2017. She was born at “Fat Mama’s” house in Unadilla, Georgia on September 15, 1931.  Her parents were John Arde Wynne, Sr. and Winnie King Wynne of Henderson, Georgia. Margie’s early education was acquired at Henderson Grammar School. Then she graduated from Perry High School in 1949.  College time was a year at North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia. In 1954, after spending some time working at Warner Robins Air Force Base, she moved to California with her brother, and worked as a computer tabulator operator at Los Angeles Transit Lines for many years. Kenneth M. Elkin swept her off her feet, and took her for his bride in 1963. After his death in 1998, she heard Georgia calling, and finally moved back to Forsyth, Georgia, with her sister, Wynella, and her husband, Dean Martin.  Several years later she moved out into her own home where she could have cats.  As she became more and less capable of caring for herself, she had a young man, Adam Mills, to be her caretaker and manager of her business needs. They got along well together. Her parents and two older brothers, Jack and David preceded Margie in death. She has an older sister, Wynella, and younger brother, Michael King Wynne (Myanh), still living. There are nieces and nephews abundantly. There will be no services. She will be interred with her husband in Walnut Cemetery in Unadilla, Georgia. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
