Joanne Smith

November 16, 1932 — October 6, 2016

Joanne Smith passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Maynard Baptist Church with burial in East Juliette Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Mark Goolsby will officiate.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.  Mrs. Smith, the daughter of the late Doc Smith and Dessie Bell Cook Smith was born November 16, 1932, in Macon, Georgia. Her husband, James “Smitty” Smith, Sr., her sons, Jimbo Smith, Jim Ard and Glen Ard and her daughter, Mandy Smith preceded her in death.  Mrs. Smith was retired from Monroe County Collections and Bibb Collections and was a member of Maynard Baptist Church.  Survivors include her children, Jackie (Ronnie) Johnson of Juliette, Pete (Glenda) Ard of Juliette, Nancy Cobb of Byron, Timothy Randall (Wanda) Smith of Boiling Springs, North Carolina and Charlotte Gwen (Dan) Caines of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; brother, William (Betty) Smith of Morrisville, North Carolina; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.  The family requests no flowers but suggests donations to Maynard Baptist Church Freedom Fund, Post Office Box 576, Forsyth, GA 31029.  Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
