Samuel Herndon

Samuel Herndon passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Monroe Memorial Gardens.  Rev. Mark Goolsby will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.  Mr. Herndon, the son of the late David Herndon and Catherine Gunter Herndon was born September 10, 1949, in Macon, Georgia. He was retired from Georgia Power Company and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam.  Survivors include his companion of nineteen years, Mary Delay of Brooks, Georgia; children, Michelle Schulten of Macon, Karla (Billy) Smith of Juliette and Melissa Barfield of Twiggs County; sisters, Brenda (Jimmy) Shurley of Forsyth, Velma (Jim) Crockett of Atlanta and Dot (Lon) Bush of Duluth; and eight grandchildren. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
