A Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Monroe Senior Center, 515 Hwy 83 South, Forsyth, GA 31029.
Robert Joe Jones was born in McKenzie, TN. His early years were spent in McKenzie and Chicago, IL. Upon graduation, Jones enlisted in the U. S. Army. For the next 22 plus years, he rose through the ranks and retired a Senior NCO. He served 3 combat tours in Vietnam and was the recipient of many commendations, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Jones actively volunteered with the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 664, and later as Command Sergeant Major in the GA State Defense Forces. He passionately devoted his time to helping homeless Vets find re-entry into society and guiding disabled Vets to appropriate social services.
Survivors include his wife, Marie James-Jones; his son, Robert Eric (Nicole) Jones of Fort Worth, TX; four sisters and two brothers, 2 grandchildren, a devoted family and many long- time friends.
